Naming names of terrorists Hamas wants released

There has been much talk in Israel all week of 'prisoners with blood on their hands' whom Hamas wants released in exchange for kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. On Friday afternoon, the JPost web site has some of the names of terrorists that Hamas is demanding.
The [Egyptian] sources [quoted by London-based Arabic daily al-Hayat] went on to say that among the prisoners Hamas was demanding in the first stage were PFLP chief Ahmed Sadat [responsible for the assassination of Israeli tourism minister Rechavam Zeevi. CiJ], Tanzim leader Marwan Baghouti [founder of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades serving five life sentences and responsible for the murder or wounding of hundreds of Israelis. CiJ], Amana Muna - a female Fatah operative who lured 16-year-old Ophir Rahum via Internet chats to a cruel death on January 17, 2001 - and two members of Hamas's armed wing Izzadin Kassam.

Meanwhile, the London-based A-Sharq al-Awasat newspaper said that Israel had offered to release prisoners who took part in large terror attacks to Gaza, but not to the West Bank.

If Hamas agrees to the offer, said the newspaper, Israel will release the prisoners Hamas is demanding, including Abbas Said, the mastermind of the 2002 Pessah eve bombing of Netanya's Park Hotel [murdered thirty Israelis. CiJ]. However, the paper said that Hamas was opposed to the offer, since the group refused to agree to "the deportation" of prisoners.
And there are over 400 more like them. I cannot think of a more explicit invitation to carry out the next terror attack than to release these terrorists.

If I was Gilad Shalit, I would turn down the deal. My freedom is unimportant if it means more Jewish blood will be shed in the future. The Talmud prohibits sparing one Jew to avoid killing a lot of other Jews, if they would be killed in his place. One's blood is not redder than others. And there's no reason to believe Israel will even get Shalit back alive since Hamas has refused to provide Israel with "sign of life." That's the minimum for doing an exchange and Hamas and Hezbollah have refused to provide information on their Israeli captives. Israel should not make any deals with them that involve the release of "terrorists with blood on their hands" from its prisons. The price is simply too great.

Israel should have gotten Shalit out two years ago! NEVER forsake an Israeli solder - NEVER NEVER! These horrible terrorists kidnap and torture to death and send back body parts, if there are any. GET SHALIT OUT NOW! The arab muslim terroristic occupiers always fight for theirs...

We should return the prisoners and ask for nothing...

Put them on a bus full of explosives

Send it across the gaza

and detonate it...

make the statement, release Gilad now, or another busload will be released and detonated...

rinse and repeat...

if israel RUNS out of prisoners? go get more.. anyone on the otherside of the border with a gun is fair game...

NormanF,

Israel actually does know that Shalit is alive. His parents have received two letters (one recently) and an audiotape. Nevertheless, the price is too high.

Marlene,

Yes, the IDF should have gone in two years ago and gotten Shalit out. But the price being demanded now is way too high. Israel should walk away from the table.
