Video: Abu Mazen rejects Israel as a Jewish state

No end of conflict. Yes, 'right of return.' 'Moderate' Abu Mazen rejects the notion of Israel as a Jewish state.

Let's go to the videotape. A transcript follows.

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), to the Palestinian Youth Parliament: "The 'Jewish State'. What is a 'Jewish State'? We call it, "the State of Israel'. You can call yourselves whatever you want. You can call yourselves whatever you want. But I will not accept it. And I say this on a live broadcast. It's not my job to define it, to provide a definition for the State and what it contains. You can call yourselves [stutters] the Zionist Republic, the Hebrew, the National, the Socialist [Republic] call it whatever you like. I don't care."
Then why cut off half our land to make a 'Palestinian' state reichlet?

Carl - as the Elder Of Ziyon has observed, Palestinian nationalism is a sham nationalism. It is purely defined by what the Jews do and is a reaction against Zionism rather than being a national movement that seeks to build a secure and independent existence for one's people, which is the essence of a true nationalist movement. Since Palestinian Arab nationalism is an invention, it is no surprise to find Mahmoud Abbas openly rejecting Israel's existence as a Jewish State. A real nationalist movement would not be threatened by a competitor and would even welcome the opportunity to show it can better the lot of its own people. That is exactly what the Palestinians are not about. They feel threatened by Zionism and reject every opportunity to show they could do a better job of running a country than Israel did.

That is why there will never be a Palestinian state.

Gotcha! The money quote from this Holocaust denier (who wrote a "university thesis" denying the Holocaust and on Israeli "collaboration" with the Nazis): "You can call yourselves [stutters] the Zionist Republic, the Hebrew, the National, the Socialist [Republic] call it whatever you like."

"National Socialist". Hmmmm. Where have we heard that before? Oh... as in "Nazi". He's calling Israel a Nazi state. And Israel negotiates with this repulsive scrap of human garbage??? Any Israeli who even comes close to this filthy dog should hang his head in shame.

Feh!

Norman,
I disagree with you. There WILL be a Palestinian state but it will be short-lived as it will quickly self-destruct. As there is historically no such thing as a "Palestinian", the fact that these people happen to share the same geography will not be enough to create any type of sustained nationalistic desire. As a result, this "state" will die from the centrigugal forces from Hamas, Hizbullah, Shiites, Sunnis, Christians, etc...
And unfortunately, this will not be a quick and clean death. There wll be lots of bloodshed and it will spill all around (Israel, Lebanon, Jordan just for a start).
My prediction is that we will see this state within 3-5 years and it will be gone within 7-10 years.

The problem with a sovereign Palestinian state is that it is, contrary to what Andre has suggested, forever. Once Israel agrees to surrender the land and the UNSC blesses "Palestine", there will be no going back.

I do agree that it will be drenched in blood -- both Arab and Jew -- and that there will quickly be a succession of failed governments and juntas but unfortunately, Israel will never be able to reclaim the land.

If Zionists have been frustrated in the past with the allowances provided the Arabs by the international community following their wars of aggression against the Jews, just wait until there is a sovereign Palestinian state. They will have carte blanche to try and try again to eradicate Israel while suffering no penalty other than the casualties the IDF will inflict on them in defense.

FimanceDoc, they would have to want a state. They don't. Hamastan is not even a failed state and if it were not for the Jews, no one would seriously aid or trade with it. To get one, the Palestinians would have do the things the Jews did to earn a state. To this very day, they haven't even made the effort.
